Know before you go: reciprocity varies by state and changes often. New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Maryland generally do not honor permits from other states, so carrying in those states takes that state's own permit. Always confirm the current rules for every state you will carry in.

NYS Concealed Carry Permit Certification Course

  • 16 hours of classroom instruction plus 2 hours of live-fire training.
  • NRA Basic Pistol course included.
  • No experience necessary. For beginners through seasoned experts.
  • Instructors: our team of certified instructors, including owner Jeff Hirschman.
  • Course fee: $499. Pricing as of our spring 2026 class, so confirm when you register. Combo packages are available with non-resident add-ons.

Topics include safe firearm handling and storage, the laws governing the use of force, and conflict de-escalation. We'll also explain what to expect from the licensing process.

Registration opens the NRA course search. Look for the QC Hunting & Outdoor Sports class, or email us and we'll point you to the next one.

How the Course Works

  1. Classroom. A full-day, 16-hour classroom program. Recent classes met in East Meadow, NY, and the exact address is emailed after you register.
  2. Live fire. A 2-hour live-fire session at the Nassau County Range in Uniondale, normally during Thursday range time (6–8 PM). Ask about the 4th-Sunday morning session. Sign up for range time.
  3. Apply. Completing the course is one step in New York's licensing process. Your application goes to your local licensing authority, and requirements can change, so we review the current process in class. Need fingerprints? We offer Live Scan fingerprinting at the shop.

Out-of-State & Non-Resident Permits

Add permits to your NYS course for NYC, Westchester NY, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida, South Carolina, Utah, Arizona, Maine, New Hampshire and others. Owner Jeff Hirschman teaches CCW courses for Florida, New Jersey, Maryland, South Carolina, Connecticut, Utah and other states, and we help with licenses for NYC, Westchester NY, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Maine, New Hampshire and Virginia. Ask what the course and application involve for each state, and which other states we can assist with.

  • Combo package pricing is available when you add permits to the NYS course.
  • Which states honor which permits changes over time. We review the current picture in class.
  • Every state has its own laws on carrying, transport and prohibited places.
Important: as of this writing, New York does not honor permits issued by other states. A non-resident permit does not authorize carrying in New York.
